2020 Certainly Feels Like A New Decade At Tennessee:
Thursday Announcements:
Titans Listener Watch Party Saturday Night????? I still don't know if I'm doing one but it's fun to think about and consider. Would anybody show up if I invited Titans fans to come out and watch the game with me? I don't know.
Please Come See Us Play Some Live Music Tonight: You can watch how sick I'm going to get when the Celtics are rolling my 76ers in real time while I'm trying to focus on making music with my friends. Please come out and see me with Fountain City Ramblers Tonight at 7:30 at Wild Boar on Emory Road.
To The News Of The Day: Both Mays Brothers Will Play At UT: That's pretty amazing if you stop and think about it. Cade will have to wait a while to see if he gets to play with his brother Cooper in 2020 or 2021. Cade, who played two season at Georgia, may have to sit out the upcoming season unless Tennessee is either granted an NCAA waiver or Georgia decides to let him out of his scholarship there.
How Will The Mays Family Lawsuit Play Into This? In case you missed the story on the Kevin Mays/Georgia lawsuit, here it is.

Back To The Original Question: How will the Mays lawsuit work with regards to helping Cade become immediately eligible. From where I sit, one of two things can happen here. Either Kevin and family are using this as leverage to get Cade out of his commitment to UGA or this is going to be a protracted deal. The long and short of this is that Georgia obviously doesn't want to go to court with anyone but if they're pushed they, like all major institutions, have an army of attorneys and surely they aren't afraid to use them.
From where I sit it seems that the lawsuit could either be an impetus for Cade Mays gaining instant playing time or it's going to be a tool that buries his chances of seeing the field in 2020. What we've seen thus far recently with the NCAA is that college sports governing body isn't going to acquiesce to a transferring student athlete unless the previous institution signs off on it.
There's Already Bad Blood With Kirby Dumb & Pruitt: How is this latest chapter going to enhance an already burning feud? You know it's embarrassing for Georgia to lose a kid that started 11 football games for them last season. DeAngelo Gibbs joins Cade Mays as Expat Dawgs in Knoxville. Will Tennessee get involved with Zach Evans? I realize he's bad news.

Miles Jones To Tennessee: This speedy satellite type player is transferring from Nebraska to Tennessee. Jones is expected to walk-on at Tennessee in 2020. Tennessee was originally in Jones' top 5 schools. The Plantation, Florida product struggled to get into Nebraska's WR rotation. If I'm Tennessee, why not? I take a flier on flyer.
Trey Smith????? What's he going to do today at 1pm when he announces his intentions for 2020? It doesn't make sense that Smith would stay in Knoxville and play 2020 at UT. Then again things seem to be going the way of the Vols early in 2020. I can confirm with 100 percent certainly that Trey Smith was in class yesterday at UT. If you're in the camp of holding out hope that Smith stays for 2020, take heart. This seems to be one in your favor. Then again Smith could still opt to go pro and stay and train in Knoxville for the NFL Draft. I guess you could say that you just read this paragraph and we're not closer to solving the Trey Smith mystery.
I will say that while I believe the smart money is one Smith turning pro, it seems that he's extremely torn. I was told by two soures close to the team that Smith has conveyed how torn he is leading up to this decision because as I was told by one source, 'Trey really loves this place. And he loves college football. And he LOVES everything about playing at UT.' This whole situation reminds me of Grant Williams and his conundrum last spring. Williams loves UT as well but ultimately made the obvious decision.
What Do The Pros Say About Trey Smith?
NFL Draft Analyst Mike Detillier joined your Tony Basilio Show Wednesday and had the following the say about Trey Smith.
'NFL people I've spoken to don't think Trey's blood clots are an issue as far as him playing in that league. Now they do think it will be team by team for him in terms of who wants to get involved with him. I think he's a second round pick. I think he'll be a left guard and he'll be great at that level. Trey Smith is going to be an excellent player in the NFL. Now if Trey Smith didn't have the blood clot issues, he's easily a top 12 pick in the NFL Draft.
Do Things Come In 3's? Let's see, we have Cade Mays ... Legacy player, along with Miles Jones and ________? Could the 3rd be Amari Rodgers or Clemson? I'm talking about Tee Martin's son who had perhaps the biggest catch in Clemson's come from behind win over Ohio State in the National Semi-Final. There's a lot of chatter in Tennessee's program that Amari Rodgers is going to graduate in the spring which would free him up to perhaps finish his career being coached by his father at UT. That would be amazing if it happened. What a stroke of luck this would be for Tennessee to get an accomplished football player like Amari who grew up in Knoxville.
