Welcome To Kentucky Day!!!

Reminder Before We Get Started: Garza Law Tennessee Basketball Overtime as soon as the Vols at Kentucky goes final. We'll be live on your Tony Basilio App, Swain Event App, Periscope, Facebook, etc....Tell a friend.

Signing Day Apptacular Tomorrow!!!

We'll be live in the Ray Mears Studio available on your Tony Basilio App, TuneIn, Periscope, YouTube Live & Facebook. Plus you'll be able to pick us up through Swain Event's app as well. All kinds of ways to hear and see the fun tomorrow!!!

How Will Signing Day Turnout?

The reportage of the past 48 hours has some Tennessee Vols thinking the worst. I'll remind you that many of the same people warned you that the early signing day was going to be borderline disastrous and it turned out pretty damn great (all things considered). Therefore, I'm going to reserve judgment until we live through tomorrow. And even them I'm reserving judgment because I love how this staff has gotten after it on the recruiting trail.

Let's Make A Deal I'm offering you the following deal deal...

Behind Door #1... Awaits a win over either Kentucky of Alabama. It's your choice.

Or

You can take your chances & reject my offer and take your chances that Tennessee will sweep the Cats and Tide.

Or

The Vols could end up 0-2 this week when you could've had a win.

Would you take my deal as Beano did yesterday on the air or reject it outright as my producer Brian Hartman chose.

Before You Make Your Decision, Here's A Little History Lesson.

Since 1999 (20 seasons) Tennessee has won at Alabama 3 times in 19 years and counting. Most times they play horribly.

Jerry Green won there for the first time since the mid DeVoe years.

Two years ago, Tennessee had them beat till Retin Obasohan went nutso down the stretch.

The SEC has 'mercifully' decided to reinstate Tennessee/Kentucky as a bi-annual series. The two years the schools played only once was an abomination to southern basketball.

Tennessee has won in Lexington TWICE since 1999 and most of the games have been absolute KILL JOBS. Very good Tennessee teams have found ways to get absolutely hammered there.

Even Billy Clyde Gillespie had a perfect 2-0 record versus the Vols in Lexington rather easily.

Tennessee hasn't swept Kentucky in basketball since 1999. Before that it was 1979. So we're talking about this team attempting to do something that our school has done ONLY TWICE in close to 40 years.

Kentucky Is A Wounded Animal They are 17-6 AND 6-4 in a less than stellar SEC.

Somehow they have a distorted RIP of #10. How?

They are projected as a 5 seed.

The best thing they do offensively is letting guys go 1-1. Isolation is it. They play porous defense and don't play hard in stretches. (See Mark Griffin's patented 3 pointers for more)

Kentucky still has to go to:

Arkansas

Texas A&M

Auburn

Florida

Plus they have there:

Tennessee (tonight)

Ole Miss

Alabama

Mizzou

Kentucky will EASILY lose 8 SEC games with this team they have.

Call me crazy but Tennessee SHOULD win there tonight. Then again, history is a thing and much better Tennessee teams have lost in that house of horrors. You don't and won't get calls tonight so Tennessee better continue to shoot it well and not turn it over.

Mark Griffin's Three Pointers
Griffin’s 3 Pointers- Kentucky 1. Raining 3s???- When I think of this seasonʻs Kentucky basketball team, the first thing that comes to mind is their number of 5 Star players. The second is their lack of three point production. In their most recent outing vs. Missouri, Kentucky shot 2-20 (10%) from three in a 60-69 loss. Their 33.5% mark ranks 243/351 in Division One. The Wildcats produce 19.2% of their points on three pointers which ranks 350/351.

2. As A Team- 17-6 (6-4 SEC) 13-1 at home SEC ranked 3rd Field Goal %- 46.8 UT ranked 9th- 45.3 SEC ranked 4th Rebounding- 39.1 UT ranked 9th- 36.7 SEC ranked 7th Scoring- 76.8 UT ranked 5th- 77.8 SEC ranked LAST 3 Pointers Made- 113 (4.9 Per Game) UT ranked 6th- 185 (8.4 Per Game)

3. Who To Look Out For: Shai Gilgeous- Alexander- 6’6” Freshman Guard from Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga- Minutes Per Game- 31.4 Field Goal %- 105-221 47.5, Three Point %- 12-31 38.7, Free Throw %- 71-86 82.6, Assists Per Game- 4.4, Steals Per Game- 1.7, and Points Per Game- 12.7 Leads the team in 3 Point %- 38.7, Assists Per Game- 4.4, and Steals Per Game- 1.7
SEC ranked 3rd Steals Per Game- 1.7 SEC ranked Tied 4th Assists Per Game- 4.4 SEC ranked 12th Free Throw %- 82.6

This is the second time I have selected Shai as Who To Look Out For because I feel he is the key to Kentucky’s success. He’s tall, quick, and drives left very effectively for a right handed player. In addition, Shai has been the most consistent Wildcat all season.

Fortunately, for UT fans he played his worst game of the year against the Vols earlier this season scoring a season low 3 points on 1-6 shooting in 38 minutes.

Talk to you post-game tonight!!!

Did you ever think it would come to this? A Kentucky head coach asking his fans not to quit on this team...

Catch Rule Chris Collinsworth took some heat but he was right in that both Eagles TD's could've been overturned and maybe should've been overturned according to what rises to the level of a catch these days in that league. The way I look at it, today's NFL catch rules and subsequent rulings were born out of robbing the Cowboys in the playoffs and the cover ups that followed. Instead of admitting that officials got it wrong in that game a new ruling was born that's kicked the NFL into a really dark place. They're now akin to a person that's told a lie long enough and so much that they can't get back to the truth because it's non- discernible.

Can you give me more analogies for the obvious lie the NFL is living these days behind their shield?

The NFL needs to come clean and restore some order to a universe of fans, commentators, coaches, support personnel and officials that have no Earthly idea how to call these arbitrary plays.

Are you ready to believe???

FAQ's Asked Of Tony Per Our Relaunch Announcement:

Q: Tony, you didn't say anything about your daily show yesterday. Will you continue to do this?

A: Absolutely. I'm looking forward to year #24 with you.

Q: Tony, you used the word 'subscribe'. What Am I subscribing too?

A: Great question. 'Subscribe' is a misnomer. What you actually are doing if you choose to help us monthly (and we need this for budgeting reasons) is actually acting as a patron. The goal is to keep the content (ALL CONTENT, from postgame offerings to various podcasts) free for all.

Q: So, if I'm not subscribing and I'm already reading this, why give?

A: Because you value the content and our contribution to the market and you want to help us keep this stuff free for everybody.

Q: Are you going to beat us up for money all the time here?

A: Absolutely not. I will bring this up a few times heading into the football season as we attempt to meet our financial goals and create new programming. I'll also mention it in the post-game format as well as the regional programming. I will not however wear you out with this. Either you feel the need to help us or you don't. This is why I'm taking today to field some question I received after day one.

Q: What happens if this doesn't generate the revenue you're seeking?

A: We will scale back our online offerings accordingly. The blog itself could even disappear. I really don't want this to happen but will be forced to spend my time in the most profitable way necessary. That's why we're having the conversation. All my cards are on the table here.

Q: Where can I find these new podcasts, like that X-Cast?

A: Click on "Podcast" wherever you see it on the site, and it will take you to our Podcast page.

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
