Quick Note before we begin. If you're in the neighborhood tonight, I'll be playing with the Fountain City Ramblers at Clancy's Tavern and Whiskey House on Gay Street TONIGHT from 7-9p. Spread the word. We're going to have a great time! Hope you can make it down. We have a varied set list touching all genres. You'll hear some grass, some classic rock, some singer songwriter, etc. Going to be great. I'm even going to sing a song or two including Bartender's Blues, along with Jim Croce's Operator. Lance, David, and yours truly would love to see you there. Mrs. B will surely buy your first beer if you ask nicely.
Rank the following hypotheticals from most likely to least likely as it relates to the 2016 season.
A. Josh Dobbs wins the Heisman Trophy
B. The Vols make the playoffs
C. The Vols lose to Florida in Knoxville
I'll go B, C, A. I believe it's more likely that Tennessee is a playoff team than any other hypothetical mentioned above. No offense to Josh Dobbs, but he doesn't throw it well enough to win a Heisman Trophy. Then again, what if Tennessee does have a magical march through 2016? Wouldn't this mean Dobbs would land squarely in the Heisman Trophy conversation? BTW, Florida is losing in Neyland Stadium in September. You can go ahead a book that.
Dr. Sean Sinclair, DDS, beautiful Maryville, had some interesting points to a caller asking us to put ourselves in the shoes of UT OC Mike Debord in the upcoming season. Dr. Sinclair said he would do the following in 2016:
1. Run the ball predominately.
2. Use a short passing game.
3. Throw deep off play action.
4. Turn Dobbs completely loose on the ground.
5. Think efficiency over excitement early and often.
6. Use a fullback in goal line situations.
Dr. Sinclair went on to point out that many times the most exciting play in football is to run the ball down someone's throat and make him like it. This formula has been tried and true through the years at many programs. Interesting stuff. How would you answer that question?
Dr. Sinclair's formula is going to work very well against Georgia because they're defensive line challenged.

This is wonderful stuff. Great for Rick Barnes for helping these folks. Thanks to Kreg Smith for shooting me a link to this story.

I'm really rooting for Rick Barnes and hope it works out for him here. I find his level of inactivity on the recruiting trail in terms of involvement with top 150 players alarming. Scott Compton made a great point yesterday on Twitter as he was listening to me express my concern. Compton wondered why Cuonzo Martin is a recruiter extraordinaire after leaving here while Barnes was a GREAT recruiter everywhere but here so far. That's a really interesting point. Is the problem us? Did I miss something? Am I being too hard on Barnes. I don't think so.
Nick Saban is a disciplinarian of sorts. Right now he's trying to figure out a way to keep the heat of Cam Robinson after that arrest. Any chance to get the lesser player to take the heat for having the stolen heat?

I enjoyed your show on Tuesday about great concert stories. I loved the story about Steve Earle and the anti death penalty sermon he gave at one of his Knoxville concerts. Steve Earle did that at the Tennessee Theatre, not the Bijou. I was there. I can't believe you knew the guy that stood up and screamed 'VICTIMS RIGHTS VICTIMS RIGHTS!!!'. Steve Earle was really pissed off. It was comical.
I wore a fake mullet as it was not my first Steve Earle concert, and I wanted to fit in with all the rednecks.
I put Earle neck and neck with Bob Dylan, but you were right Tuesday on the air, shut up and sing. My brother and I boo'd him that night. I still listen to him and the man can write some songs.
Love your show and congratulations on what you've accomplished.
Cheers,
Andrew Carter
Andrew: My buddy said Earle stopped what he was doing and said, "Sit the F*** down and shut F*** up, I got the mic you clown." My buddy claims he yelled, "KILL EM ALL" at Earle before finally going out into the lobby to cool off.

I really enjoyed seeing some thoughts from your producer Brian Hartman. I've always found his dialogue with you on the air enjoyable. He seems like a well grounded person. You should give him more time on the air. I hope we will be seeing more from him on your blog as well.
Thanks for all you.
Memphis Mike'
Mike: Great hearing from you. I think the world of Brian Hartman. He does a great job. I thought his blog entry yesterday was wonderful. Brian is a true sportsman. The guy knows a lot about many different sports. He could talk EPL, NFL, NBA, MMA, MLB and NHL with the best. I respect the heck out of the job he does. Brian is also a wonderful follow on twitter at
@BrianH618.
Great to hear that Mike Griffith is coming back to Knoxville to work with the AJC in covering the Vols. Griffith is one of the good ones. I'm really happy for him. He has kids here and I'm congratulating all involved.
No hyperbole from Marco Rubio on Tim Tebow.

As a fan of dark comedy, I'm 100% in favor of Steve Spurrier for CFB Commissioner. Could you imagine that guy with his quirky demeanor ruling over college football? Yassss.

Congrats to Walt Chapman of Fairways & Greens for shooting a 64 at Holston Hills in a qualifier for the US Open. That's 3 off his course record. Chapman is in his mid-50's. He's getting ready to play in the Senior PGA Championship. The guy flat out balled out yesterday. Kudos, Sir Walter Chapman. BTW, Walt will still have to qualify in a sectional round, but his accomplishment yesterday is noteworthy nonetheless.
Finally:
I'm still looking for players for Saturday. What's a matta with you people?
