With Cuonzo Martin leaving for the head coaching job at Cal, Tennessee is now looking for a new head basketball coach. I wish Coach Martin nothing but the best, but I think this move is best for both parties. For Cuonzo, he goes to a place where he wants to be. For UT, we wipe the slate clean and get a new coach which in my opinion will be an upgrade. Here is my short list of coaches.

1. Gregg Marshall: I donít see this being too realistic seeing that we passed on him three times.

2. Ben Howland: Howland is a very real option. This would be a GREAT hire for Tennessee. Howland has tournament experience; he has Final Four experience. Howland would my pick for the job.

3. Shaka Smart: Shaka Smart would be a good fit but I donít think it is likely to happen.

4. Mick Cronin: Mick Cronin would work at UT. I think Tennessee could hire Cronin away from Cincinnati and Cronin could win here.

5. Richard Pitino: I love Pitino. I think Pitino would come to Tennessee from Minnesota and could possibly be the coach for a LONG time.

Thanks for reading. This is a great day for the University of Tennessee, follow me on Twitter @brandonorrick and feel free to email me your thoughts.
