Signing Day Apptacular: 11a-Til? Today from 11a through press conference of Coach Pruitt.

Please help....If you could today, please watch us on Periscope or Facebook Live -- perhaps on Jayson Swain's app/stream. Today we'll be pretty overwhelmed on our stream and I want to alleviate the possibility of an app/stream crash. This is why we're in the process of upgrading our entire infrastructure.

Special Announcement...UT Hoops Listener Watch Party: Saturday 6p. Tapped on Cumberland Avenue.

All Ages Venue.

Bring The Kids!!!

Let's beat Bama!!!

As we wake up on National Signing Day:

A lightly heralded receiver from Vegas is in Tennessee's cross-hairs.

They feel pretty good about JJ Peterson.

Vols feel good about Mincey.

Probably not so much Que Walker.

Probably not so much on Copeland.

We can always hope for some fireworks but give this staff credit for swinging for the fences.

Since Sunday night the momentum and vibe at Tennessee has been a worrisome one. It's not for lack of trying.

Today's Signing Day Apptacular Features: 'X's Recipe For Tennessee 2018 Recruiting Success.

'X's Top Players In State of Tennessee.

'X's Tennessee wish list.

'X's Tennessee Big Board Consisting of 75+ National Prospects.

Don't you dare miss today's show!!!

Plus appearances from National recruiting analysts and prospects & signees.

How The Vols Led A Half Despite Sleepwalking On Offense: At the half Tennessee and Kentucky both shot 38% from the field.

Vols had a one point lead because they only had 6 turnovers to Kentucky's 8.

Kentucky was 3-9 from 3 point land and this is a great # for them.

Vols were 3-11 from 3 point land in first half.

Rick Barnes gets foul calls.

In second half: Grant Williams picked up 3rd foul with 15 minutes left.

Vols couldn't throw it in the ocean.

Bowden's 5 point run made it a 44-42 UT lead with 9 minutes left.

Through 33 minutes the Vols led 48-46 while Bone & Turner combined for 3 turnovers through that point.

The 4th Foul on Grant Williams was an atrocious call. Pure Rupp-a-rees.

Vols led 50-46 when the foul was whistled.

Bone had two straight boners which tied game at 50.

Click to Performance Medicine!
Schofield fell down and it's 53-50 with 3:18 left in game.

Kentucky drove the ball more than Vols at rim.

Going to Bowden twice was great call. Vols down 55-54 with 2:11 left.

Cal got them to look at monitor after a player went to the floor. There was zero foul. Zero contact. What were they looking at. Cal should've been T'd up for that. False advertising.

Click to YMCA of East Tennessee!
Call on Vanderbilt was horrible call. Vols got a break. Williams hit 2 and it's 56 all.

G-Alexander was crazy great but got away with a shove to make it 58-56.

Schofield's 3 was too quick.

Turnover G Alexander......

Lamonte Turner BOTTOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Vols Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Schofield Dunk!!!!!! Vols up 61-58.

Matt Dixon
What a win for the Vols in Lexington

Tennessee didn’t shoot very well at all, but to find a way to win at Rupp Arena when playing a B-level game is incredible.

It helps that Kentucky plays with no passion or toughness.

That NBA 3-pointer that Lamonte Turner nailed might’ve ended the Wildcats season.

It’s going to be awesome watching Bruce Pearl and his Auburn team pound Kentucky on Saturday.

Winning basketball programs simply find a way to win games like the Vols did last night.

Tennessee is now 18-5 (8-3 SEC), and have won nine of their last 10.

This is probably the most complete Tennessee team I’ve seen. It’s definitely the toughest. This team simply never quits.

If the Vols are ever going to make the Final Four, this year is as good as ever. Of course, seeding and the draw in the tournament play a major factor, but the parity across college basketball this year should make for an exciting March. It wouldn’t surprise me if a couple of teams who aren’t top-4 seeds make the Final Four.

I almost wish we could skip ahead a month because we’re playing so well right now. I just hope this team isn’t peaking right now.

Tennessee has all the ingredients of a second-weekend team: elite defense, deep bench, shoot well from three and the free-throw line and balanced scoring.

What I think separates this team is it has six players who can take over a game scoring. Five different Vols have scored at least 20 points in a game this season. I’m not sure the last time we’ve had a team with that many options.

I love our four-guard rotation of Jordan Bone, Jordan Bowden, Lamonte Turner and James Daniel. Each of them have their strengths and weaknesses, but this coaching staff has done a nice job establishing roles for each of them. Our ball movement on offense is as good as there is in college basketball. It’s great, unselfish basketball.

Oh My!!!! Vols are 18-5 8-3 in the SEC....

Vols have won 9 of 10 and 8 of last 9 in SEC.

#2 seed here we come!!!!

Observations: Are the rims 10 feet off the ground in CorRUPP arena? Tennessee can't throw it in the ocean there and never has been able to.

That crowd HATES this Kentucky team. I mean HATE. There's no buy in. This can't be fun for that fan base. No Kentucky connection...Nothing.

Schofield has really become a nice player for Tennessee. He does so many GREAT things away from the ball.

Kentucky refuses to get back on defense.

Gilgeous-Alexander is a nice player.

The Tubbs were in the top left last night. They deserve to see a Final Four before it's over.

Living Colts Fan: You dodged a bullet. Josh McDaniel is a phoney baloney. He's a joke. Good riddance to him. Hire Butch Jones (kidding) and be done with it.

UFC or UCF: UCF had 13 points at the half last night versus Cincinnati. UCF lost 77-40. And Somebody paid to see that.

Final Thought: Tennessee has the team Kentucky fans wish they had.

FAQ's Asked Of Tony Per Our Relaunch Announcement:

Q: Tony, you didn't say anything about your daily show yesterday. Will you continue to do this?

A: Absolutely. I'm looking forward to year #24 with you.

Q: Tony, you used the word 'subscribe'. What Am I subscribing too?

A: Great question. 'Subscribe' is a misnomer. What you actually are doing if you choose to help us monthly (and we need this for budgeting reasons) is actually acting as a patron. The goal is to keep the content (ALL CONTENT, from postgame offerings to various podcasts) free for all.

Q: So, if I'm not subscribing and I'm already reading this, why give?

A: Because you value the content and our contribution to the market and you want to help us keep this stuff free for everybody.

Q: Are you going to beat us up for money all the time here?

A: Absolutely not. I will bring this up a few times heading into the football season as we attempt to meet our financial goals and create new programming. I'll also mention it in the post-game format as well as the regional programming. I will not however wear you out with this. Either you feel the need to help us or you don't. This is why I'm taking today to field some question I received after day one.

Q: What happens if this doesn't generate the revenue you're seeking?

A: We will scale back our online offerings accordingly. The blog itself could even disappear. I really don't want this to happen but will be forced to spend my time in the most profitable way necessary. That's why we're having the conversation. All my cards are on the table here.

Q: Where can I find these new podcasts, like that X-Cast?

A: Click on "Podcast" wherever you see it on the site, and it will take you to our Podcast page.

Final Four

Friday night’s Iowa-UConn Final Four game had 14.2 million viewers. That’s more than any women’s college basketball game, ever. More than every 2023 NBA Finals game and more than every 2023 World Series game. ESPN has had the rights to NBA games since 2002. But the Final Four game between Iowa and UConn was the networks most-watched basketball game, men’s or women’s, pro or collegiate EVER.... [more]

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]
Connecticut Game Preview

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
