Tony,
The heat appears to have taken up residence in East Tennessee. Welcome to the humid, sweaty dog days of the sports year.
1. The Rocky Top League is not an optimal environment from which to make many judgments. That said, it is pretty obvious why the UT staff is so high on Lamonte Turner.
2. The Tennessee basketball family lost a true icon with the passing of Jimmy England. He was one of the stars who lit the fuse that culminated with the hoops explosion during the Ernie and Bernie era.
3. Art Briles proves with every word he says that reality passed him by some ways back. It's hard to fathom someone being that tone deaf.
4. Hiring Dan Leibovitz is a shrewd move by the SEC. The league continues to take significant steps toward bolstering its basketball product.
5. While it is a bit over the top to compare his hit total to that of Pete Rose, Ichiro Suzuki has had a staggering career. He is certainly a first ballot Hall of Famer.
6. Word that Jim Ross is doing a film about the Saturday night wrestling show on WTBS should have fans smiling. It promises to be a must see venture.
7. ESPN continues to put out documentaries that are theater quality. I'm already looking forward to their 30 for 30 on Darryl Strawberry and Dwight Gooden.
8. USA soccer at least is showing some fight. Good to see.
9. We get Game 7. Can't wait to see what the narrative is if Cleveland wins.
