Click to The Garza Law Firm
Tennessee/Va Tech is an 8p start and it's going to be a long night for all involved. Great for the program. OK for the fans but it's going to make for a seriously long night for those in attendance. Conservatively, the game is going to end at 11:30 at the earliest. There are so few accommodations in Bristol that unless you're staying in a camper, you're going to be up well into the wee small hours of the morning. If that game is close towards the end, it will be a complete mess with bottle necked traffic trying to get out of there. I checked into getting a camper and there's just nothing available, so lots of luck to you. Of course I'm going to be up all night doing the Smartway, Garza Law Firm Fifth Quarter Fan Reaction Call-In Show as soon as the game ends until well into Sunday morning. Going to be a long night just the same. And if you're going for the weekend, that concert promises to be all time people watching. In fact, we've come up with a great concept that I really hope the fine folks at Bristol will embrace.

I had some good, clean fun with Dr. Sinclair on the air yesterday talking about that country music show on the eve of the Battle at Bristol. We've dubbed (or I have dubbed) this concert as 'NeckStock'. We were building this on the air yesterday as to what would be appropriate vendors and behavior at 'NeckStock'.

Noooooo. You're kidding.....Link

I love....love...LOVE Harbaugh stirring up the SEC. Take Harbaugh for what he is....A flame throwing short termer that needs enemies for oxygen. It's refreshing to see someone not genuflect to St. Nick and the $EC. The $EC Commissioner is pissed too. Link

BTW, I saw where the new SEC Commissioner, Greg Sankey, was proudly proclaiming his league probation free. Is he kidding me?

Here's a real head scratcher. Kentucky ran off a baseball coach that was their most successful in recent history. He was 500 this year in a minefield of a conference. While Bama, a football school, fired their coach for going 15-15 in the league after making several regional appearances in 7 years. What gives? I wonder what Kentucky does from here?

'Since 1970, teams that have attempted to repeat when facing the team they beat the year before are 1-6. The one was Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, defeating the Utah Jazz back-to-back years in 1997 and 1998. LeBron James is the Michael Jordan of his generation. One more reason to pick Cleveland

Back To Back Champions Are Tough To Come By:
1972-L.A. Lakers over New York Knicks
1973-New York Knicks over L.A. Lakers

1978-Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards) over Seattle SuperSonics (Now OKC Thunder)
1979-Seattle SuperSonics over Washington Wizards

1982-L.A. Lakers over Philadelphia 76ers
1983-Philadelphia 76ers over L.A. Lakers

1984-Boston Celtics over L.A. Lakers

2013-Miami Heat over San Antonio Spurs
2014-San Antonio Spurs over Miami Heat

My Preview:

Golden St Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers. Rematch of 2015 NBA Finals won by the Warriors 4 games to 2. Golden St won an NBA record 73 games in the regular season, 16 more than the Cavaliers 57. Steph Curry was the regular season MVP. Don't think that one slipped by LeBron. This year, LBJ has a healthy Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, unlike a year ago. The Cavs also have Channing Frye, a 7 footer who has stepped up throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs as Cleveland went 12-2, including sweeps over the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks. LBJ can neutralize the potent 3 point weapons the Warriors have on the perimeter and go inside and get offensive and defensive rebounds without having to play the point now that Kyrie is healthy. Cleveland's Tristan Thompson can also do dirty work in the paint while out rebounding his Golden St counterparts. If JR Smith can just give the Cavs 10 points a night, they will be set up for success.

Last season, the Cavs were a shell of what they are now. Curry was the regular season MVP. LeBron James will be the Finals MVP. Cleveland's long, long pro sports championship drought will be over. Cavs in 6.

Here is how each team got to the Finals: Cavs, 1st rd-Beat Detroit Pistons 4-0, 2nd rd-Beat Atlanta Hawks 4-0, ECFinals-Beat Toronto Raptors 4-2
Warriors, 1st rd-Beat Houston Rockets 4-1, 2nd rd-Beat Portland Trailblazers 4-1, WCFinals-Beat Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2.

Cavs in 6. Read it and WEEP Tony B.'

Well Brian. I'm a big believer in place and Cleveland doesn't win it all at anything. Until I see the Cavs and or Cubs win something, I won't believe it. Besides, Golden State is destined after that series. The final 6 minutes of game 6 is simply the best performance I've ever seen turned in by anyone.

Welcome to June! It's soccer season!! Two years ago Soccer Dave filed some awesome stuff on the World Cup. This summer Copa America comes to the United States. Soccer Dave files this report of why you should watch.

Soccer Dave
'The Summer of Soccer has finally arrived. Are you watching? How old are you? Are you not entertained? This summer features two major soccer events going around the world at the same time: The Copa America Centenario in the USA and the European Championships in France.
Now, I’ve often asked myself why people don’t watch soccer. It’s the ultimate realty show. Though the sport has increased in popularity, younger audiences are still slow to embrace it.
I have a theory.

Most people want their lives to follow NBA basketball with its constant scoring, highlight reel dunks, non-stop entertainment between timeouts, and general over-exposure to all things entertainment. In other words, people want constant success, constant excitement with little to no wait time in between. We all know life never happens that way.

However…

Soccer is life and here’s why you should watch it. Soccer is about failure. Let me tell you what happens in a game and see if this mirrors life.
Missed opportunities
Mistrust of others around you
Selfishness
Poor execution
Bad timing
Poor preparation
Bad tactics
Lack of experience
Fear

Sound familiar?

Soccer offers you something in return for all the struggle. It offers you moments. Sometimes, just one. Soccer is about what you do in spite of failures. Can you forget about your teammates past failures? Can you forget about your fear? Soccer will ask these questions. Just as life will.

>Do you know why soccer celebrations are so incredible after a goal? Because Soccer asked a player those questions and the player answered.

Enjoy this chance to see the ultimate reality TV. It’s worth the patience.

Don’t Tread on Me,
Soccer Dave'

Caitlin Clark

We can now officially congratulate Caitlin Clark on breaking the record for the most points scored in women’s basketball!

Caitlin Clark is the biggest superstar in college basketball (men’s or women’s). That’s not just me being a fan, Caitlin Clark is HER! Caitlin scored 49 points on February 15th to pass Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record for the most career points in women’s college basketball..... [more]
It's a Love Story

Jared (the redneck from Roanoke, VA) thought the Taylor Swift coverage would end with the Super Bowl, but this love story isn’t going anywhere. In a game that was four hours and 18 minutes (that’s a total of 15,480 seconds). Swift only appeared for around 55 seconds! 55 SECONDS from the moment the game kicked off to the overtime touchdown.

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]
Connecticut Game Preview

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
