I had some fun on Twitter on Friday with the Ole Mess mess with the NCAA. Some media people from Ole Miss and fans of that drek weren't going for it. In fact, they were getting all over me with the logic that those that follow or cheer for Tennessee shouldn't be throwing stones at Ole Miss. The line they were following was interlinking Tennessee with the eye sore at Baylor. The only place where Baylor=Tennessee is in the alleged mind of the haters like Debbie 'Ma' Jennings. Otherwise, you're whistling past the graveyard if you're looking to annex Tennessee into the Baylor mess.

Put it this way: Baylor fired a coach that is easily the most successful in school history because they know exactly what was/is coming. Now, Tennessee really does need to settle this lawsuit because discovery is never a fun thing. We don't want to see what's under the rocks. To quote Sir Paul McCartney, let it be. As far as Baylor goes, they won at all costs, had a lot of great times, and will leave behind a shameless legacy of using and abusing women for profit and gain on the football field. The same cannot be said of Butch Jones and Tennessee, so please don't even try it. At the same time, it's time to settle and mute the voice of the haters. Until then, they will still attempt to juxtapose us in that mess.

As for Ole Miss, those people have to be kidding me. Look, I'm all for them beating Alabama and being a burr under Saban's Crimson Saddle. They're never going to win. They had one of the best teams money could buy over the past several years and still couldn't get to Atlanta. In fact, they had three of the top picks in the 2016 draft and still couldn't close the deal after beating Bama in 2015. Last year was their popcorn fart. Now they are going to pay the price with NCAA indigestion this big.

Personally, I hope the NCAA leaves them alone because Ole Miss is a good foil for Bama in the SEC West, while Akeem Freeze is highly comical. Will you ever get the mental image of him sitting in the living room of Kongbo with the Djembe drum and the prayer beads and candles out of your imagination? The guy is a shameless modern day Bobby Bowden. He will bless you and in the next breath cheat like hell. We need guys like this in modern day southern college football. We need some good old boys to grow old with the modern day game. Freeze proved he's never going to win anything with that ultimate horrible loss last year versus Arkansas. Seriously, when you lose a game like that you're NEVER going to win anything. Oxford Mississippi might as well be Cleveland. They're never going to win there.

Susan Shaw needs to get up with Ma Jennings after reading this piece. Is she kidding? Baylor covered up those crimes because they wanted profit and W's. It had NOTHING to do with Christianity. This piece is embarrassing. Link

8 issues are enough for the SEC with the upcoming meetings. Link

So why don't these college sports power brokers want to pay football players? It's more $$$$ for them. Link

We haven't seen each other since the last two games were played in the western conference final. The last 6 minutes of game 6 from Golden State is the highest level of sustained play at both ends in any basketball game I've ever witnessed. Those catch and shoot 3 pointers from Klay Thompson and Seth Curry is one thing. The stifling defense was quite another all together. Seriously, did OKC get the ball over midcourt in the final 3 minutes? How many shots did they even attempt? They had to turn the ball over 7 times there. It was amazing. And that's the way the cookie crumbles in the NBA. When you get a chance to close out the champions on your home court, you better do it.

I wonder if Dave Hart noticed the news about Texas Baseball. Augie Garrido is a free agent after stepping down from the Longhorns program yesterday. He's the most successful coach in the history of that school. It could be Rick Barnes Part II. I mean heck, the guy is only 77 years old. He's right in Dave Hart's wheel house. And yes, I'm a simpleton. All kidding aside, I wonder if Dave Serrano will look to get a job back on the west coast before walking the gauntlet in Knoxville next spring. Dare I say he could Cuonzo Tennessee baseball before they Tyndall him? Feel me?

Final Four

Friday night’s Iowa-UConn Final Four game had 14.2 million viewers. That’s more than any women’s college basketball game, ever. More than every 2023 NBA Finals game and more than every 2023 World Series game. ESPN has had the rights to NBA games since 2002. But the Final Four game between Iowa and UConn was the networks most-watched basketball game, men’s or women’s, pro or collegiate EVER.... [more]

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]
Connecticut Game Preview

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
