Well, it's here!!!
College football tonight!!! Can you believe it?
The main event is South Carolina and North Carolina tonight. 6 PM Eastern...ESPN.... Love it.
When you see thousands of empty seats tonight realize that both fan bases decided early on that they wouldn't be gouged by the powers that be in Charlotte.
That tonight's game is a borderline box office bomb isn't stopping the powers that be from each school from taking the payday at their fan bases expense. They're going to do this a bunch more in the future.

Film Study Cliff's Notes
Film study was really eye opening last night. Vol Colonel looked at Tony Robinson at one point and exclaimed 'do you see what I see?' T Rob said 'yeah Colonel (I love when T Rob calls him Colonel) there are going to be a whole bunch of big plays by the Vols Saturday in Nashville. Bottom line is that seeing is believing. Here's a quick version of what we saw from Bowling Green.
1. They love to play quickly.
2. Don't look for UT's ends to get many hits on the QB's. Ball gets out.
3. Bowling Green couldn't tackle in the back 7.
4. Tennessee is going to have a lot of big plays.
5. If the Vols can execute to a C+ level they will score 45 points.
6. Bowling Green is small and over matched on both sides.
No offense to Collegefootballnews.com but this is comedy.

Bowling Green won't test UT's O line in the least on Saturday but things may just remain fluid just the same.

It just seems too easy to pick Ohio State to win it all this year. Plus it would be sickening. Then again at least it would keep Saban and the Bammers from winning it.

Marcus Dupree was such a pleasant surprise yesterday on the air. He was refreshing and real while blowing me a way with his engaging way. I had no idea. What a tremendous personality he has. Folks that decide to go to his event at Calhoun's on The River on Thursday (one week) are in for a real treat. He seems like a guy that loves people and his comfortable in his own skin.
He shared that he considers himself a Sooner to this day but that he loves Alabama from his days of being recruited by the Tide. I've had other guys from that time period that have played at Tennessee quietly tell me that they had a similar type of deal. They ended up playing here but Bear Bryant was so cool that they became Bama fans (quietly) because of him. I get that I suppose. Dupree is such a character. Who knew? At one point he was doing a spot on impersonation of Big Cat Ernie Ladd. If you missed the interview please do yourself a favor and go back in the archives under segment #2 and give it a listen. If you're interested in buying a ticket to the Dupree event, tickets are available by calling Craig Jenkins at 512 636 1928.
Vols got another brick last night and he can play. Former MLB catcher Charles Johnson's son is a catcher of another kind.

Hatfield IX Time:
Hatfield's Nine
'The countdown to big time college football hits zero tonight. There are some interesting contests on the initial docket.
1. Mack Crowder exercised some poor judgment in skipping practice. I don't think there's any reason for a substantial punishment.
2. The end of the offseason has to have the coaching staff breathing a sigh of relief. There was too much off field nonsense this summer.
3. I'm not surprised ticket sales haven't been brisk in Nashville. The combination of pricey tickets and a generic opponent doesn't scream sellout.
4. One of the things I'll be most interested to see Saturday is how UT's young defensive tackles handle the pace of Bowling Green's offense. It will provide a good test of their initial conditioning.
5. Oklahoma weekend is setting up to be huge for Vol basketball. Rick Barnes and his staff have the chance to set the base of a very solid first full recruiting class.
6. My gut instinct says Minnesota will give TCU a tough go of it tonight. The Gophers are at home and well coached.
7. Utah has a great shot to ruin Jim Harbaugh's Michigan debut. The Utes are rightly favored in this contest.
8. Vanderbilt desperately needs to defend home field against Western Kentucky. A loss sets up the Commodores for another dismal season.
9. South Carolina opens a pivotal season for their program against dangerous North Carolina. The Gamecocks need to reestablish themselves after a crash landing last season.

REMEMBERING RANDY VOL WINS FROM MOST TO LEAST LIKELY
SINCE WE LAST SPOKE 8-27-15
WE’LL MISS RANDY MOORE: I came home Saturday -from what now seems like an even less important batting practice session than usual- to the sad news that Randy Moore had passed away at 63 years of age. My first thought was that is way too young for anyone let alone someone as widely respected as Randy. My second was of his earliest work with the
Knoxville Journal in 1974 when I was a senior at Oak Ridge High School....

I really wonder what the back story is behind this. Redskins are an awful organization but at least they are entertaining off the field.

The O's need to sign JP Arencibia. The former Vol loves Camden Yards more than I do and that's saying something.
