Reflecting on Bobby Denton's life on the air was interesting. Hearing people like Mickey Dearstone openly weep on the air for his great friend was moving. Rest assured, Bobby Denton was an ultra successful multi-millionaire Knoxville based radio personality. Yet he was so much more than this. You knew him as the guy behind the mic in Neyland Stadium who had some wonderful catch phrases. He obviously touched so many in our community with his kindness and community first approach. I believe the measure of a man isn't measured by a bank account. Riches are fine but relationships are eternal and sustaining. When I consider the emotion of folks like Mickey Dearstone who truly knew and were impacted by Bobby Denton, of him I say there went a truly rich man. The Voice of Neyland Stadium for close to 50 years has been silenced. Still his voice will live on forever.

My friend Craig Jenkins from the Tennessee Smokies had an interesting idea. In honor of Denton's passing, Tennessee should play the Orange & White game minus any PA announcer. Let the silence honor the fallen Voice of Neyland Stadium.

With the O&W Game set for Saturday, I ask you this today. If you could grab any two former Vols for this year's team, who would you add? I will give you one offensive and one defensive player or if you want you can grab two guys on the same side of the ball. Your goal is to try and get this team into a sure fire decent bowl game.

Q&A With 'X'. Presented By Smoothie King. Today's question was sent in by J Hale of Covington.
'X' Says
Dear 'X':

'1) what happened to the announcement Richards ( OL from Memphis ) was to make today to his commitment school.? And 2) Why did TN give a 2-star LS a scholarship ( Lovingood ) when we are so restricted to 20-22 total this year. Train an in-house lineman and save the scholarship for a higher rated recruit.

'X' Replies:
1) I think your question refers to Drew Richmond an offensive lineman that is high atop Tennessee's want list. Richmond is probably the #3 rated prospect in the state behind Jennings and the Phillips kid from the midstate. I checked and I don’t think Richmond is planning on announcing anytime soon. Its Tennessee, Ohio State, and BAMA right now for Richmond. Right now, you have to like Tennessee's chances

2) Tennessee offered the Lovingood kid because Long Snappers are becoming quite the hot commodity. Tennessee had a long snapper that agreed to pay his way until January and then go on scholarship but Oklahoma offered the kid a full ride and the kid opted to take the full ride from Oklahoma.

This season Tennessee will be breaking in a new long snapper. I understand there have been some growing pains with the snaps this spring. A long snapper you don’t have to worry about it worth his weight in gold. It isn’t a skill someone who hasn’t practiced it can acquire over a spring or summer practice.

By the way, Tennessee will end up signing 25 or so this cycle after some kids get processed out after spring practice is over.

Thanks for the question

'X'

Rory and Adam Scott go off as co-favorites today at The Masters. Link

Here are some great Masters prop bets. Link

It would be great to see UTs own Oliver Goss have a good week in Augusta. Link

Urban Meyer is talking about changing the culture at Ohio State. Sure, I believe him. Don't you? Link

Could LSU really have 11 players drafted this year? 5 or 6 of the first 100 picks? And they didn't even win their division? Jeez. Link

If you can play the NFL's going to find you. Link

Really proud to be an Eagles fan today with this news. Link

I sure hope my Eagles know what they're doing with this DeSean Jackson move. I initially bought the line about Jackson's gang affiliations being the main reason the Eagles cut him. Now, I believe this was purely Chip Kelly's call. How many times in the modern era have you ever heard of a team in the NFL releasing a guy because he didn't honor his head coach? Link

This coaches’ son singing the national anthem will make you smile. Link

Poor Mickey Rooney. That guy's life was a train wreck. 8 wives? Snackcaked his entire family on the way out. Jeez. Link

Final Four
Posted: Sun, Apr 7th, 12:12 PM
Friday night’s Iowa-UConn Final Four game had 14.2 million viewers. That’s more than any women’s college basketball game, ever. More than every 2023 NBA Finals game and more than every 2023 World Series game. ESPN has had the rights to NBA games since 2002. But the Final Four game between Iowa and UConn was the networks most-watched basketball game, men’s or women’s, pro or collegiate EVER.... [more]

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
