THE DEAN'S AWAY; SO IT'S B&B IN THE MIDDAY
BRINEY AND BEANO THAT IS

The Dean of Knoxville Sports Talk Radio –the Honorable Tony Basilio- is taking a well-deserved week away from the spotlight and while he may be honorable he’s not that intelligent because he has turned the show over to me for a couple of days. Brian Hartman and I will do our best to keep the Tony Train on the tracks until he makes his return next week but we sure could use your help to do so.

Here is what we will discuss today:

Riley Ferguson was in my opinion the fan’s choice to be the 2014 starter. Though obviously talented I think his popularity had more to do with the fact that he was the only candidate that we had yet to see throw up a stinker because he’s the only one that never took the field. Now by all indications he’s outta here and with his departure -and the belief that Peterman will only start in the event of injuries to both Justin Worley and Josh Dobbs- the starter competition is down to two.

I want to take a straw poll today on who you want to see as the starter?

More importantly I want to know if you will be disappointed if it’s Worley and if so why?

Other than that we’re wide open for you –

-Thoughts on anything coming out of the SEC Spring Meetings

-The NBA Finals are set and it will be a repeat of last season with the Heat defending against San Antonio

-MLB with two month’s play in the rearview mirror where’s your team at in relation to your preseason expectations

-Fab-Five Freddy and I had a great baseball trip to US Cellular Field in Chicago to see the Yanks and White Sox. I’d love to hear about sports trips you enjoy

-College Baseball’s Super Regional matchups are coming into focus Do any of you pay attention when the Vols or your favorite team aren’t involved?

-Are you fully engaged in reading the CFB Preseason Magazines or do you wait?

-Also with many of you not as all-in with MLB as I the long wait for football season is upon you. Donnie Tyndall has stocked the cupboard, freshmen football players are buried in books, the NBA Finals will soon be in the rear-view mirror and 2015 football recruits are just preparing for the summer camp circuit.

-So tell me what’s in your Long Way to Football Season Survival Pack. What will you do for the next 89 days to pass the time?

Those and any other sports topics on mind are all fair game

And we hope you’ll join us at 200-5402

Caitlin Clark

We can now officially congratulate Caitlin Clark on breaking the record for the most points scored in women’s basketball!

Caitlin Clark is the biggest superstar in college basketball (men’s or women’s). That’s not just me being a fan, Caitlin Clark is HER! Caitlin scored 49 points on February 15th to pass Kelsey Plum’s NCAA record for the most career points in women’s college basketball..... [more]
It's a Love Story

Jared (the redneck from Roanoke, VA) thought the Taylor Swift coverage would end with the Super Bowl, but this love story isn’t going anywhere. In a game that was four hours and 18 minutes (that’s a total of 15,480 seconds). Swift only appeared for around 55 seconds! 55 SECONDS from the moment the game kicked off to the overtime touchdown.

Missouri Game Preview

The Vols did what they were expected to do against UConn. There's not really much to say about that game. The game this Saturday in Columbia, Missouri will decide whether or not this season is a failure in my opinion. If they Vols lose, they are staring at 8-4 and probably the Gator Bowl. Maybe Reliaquest..... [more]
Connecticut Game Preview

The Vols are coming back to Neyland Stadium and I am returning after a discretionary bye week. I'll be honest with you. This year it seems like I've been writing the same preview over and over because the formula to win has been the same pretty much every SEC game. I didn't want to sound like a broken record so I needed a bit of a break from that.

I'll start with some general observations..... [more]
