So, last night I'm at my son's baseball game (lot of those lately) and I see a UK fan who I haven't seen in a long time, so I offered my congratulations on UK's winning the National Title in hoops. Before I could, he holds out his hand as if to say 'hold up a second'. He whispers that he was listening on his Smart Phone to Kentucky's press conference on the players. I said to him 'what are listening for? They're all going pro man.' I walk a lap around the perimeter of the field. When I get back around to him, he's standing there with a blank look on his face. He says to me 'they all left man.' I say 'yeah and?' He was really disappointed. I'm thinking to myself that these UK fans can't be serious. Do they really think those mercenary players in Cal's mercenary experiment care about them or Big Blue tradition. Do those kids even know the melody (forget the lyrics) to My Old Kentucky Home? Are you kidding me? I'm sure it was great to win it all earlier this month but NONE of those kids cares about Kentucky. It's a completely use/use relationship. And the further Cal gets into his tenure there, the less it will resemble Kentucky basketball. Watch the # of Kentucky born kids diminish as he goes along. Similar to his situation in Memphis where he recruited Memphians in a cursory way. This UK fan was really torn up last night. Are you kidding me? Is that the height of sheepdom or what?
And these kids were talking about the 'Big Blue Nation' and 'Family' and the media was eating it up last night in Lexington. Comical.

Great piece in Arkansas saying UA created and even empowered Bobby Petrino & his bulletproof persona.

During his competitive PGA days, John Daly was known as an all or nothing player. He was either in contention or not finishing. You remember those days? Well, Daly the college football fan seems pretty all or nothing as well. He wants Gruden @ Arkansas!

Rush the court with 5 great reads on college hoops and Anthony Davis of UK on Kimmel giggling @ the thought of homework and papers and being a 'student athlete'. Yeah, it's a farce.

The NFL schedule is out and Mike Florio has an observation on EVERY team's slate.

Three suspended Bama player remain in limbo following Spring practice. But really, are they going anywhere if they can play?

Jamie Moyer is older than dirt in baseball terms. He's staring 50 in the eyes and just recorded a win yesterday for Colorado. Moyer is obviously a physical freak. I love the guy! Just a great man with a wonderful ability to stick around. And he can still pitch!

From Buster Olney 'Jamie Moyer's first start was June 16, 1986. Opposing starting pitcher was Steve Carlton, who is now 67 years old.'
You know how the Preds won last night in Detroit? Goaltending. It's that simple. Great play in goal is like great pitching in baseball. It's the ultimate equalizer. Case closed. The Preds stole game four in Detroit last night. they were outshot 41-17. Oh, and Nashville is 2-17 so far on the power play in the series yet they lead 3-1. It's called great goaltending. And it's the reason the Predators are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender and my Flyers aren't.
Go Flyers
